The Bard, in ancient Celtic times was a man of great importance. His foremost function was in the praise of his king. He also entertained the assembly, sometimes in eulogy, sometimes in satire. Together with the Druid, Warrior and Silversmith, he represents the image of the ancient Celt.

Il bardo, nei tempi celtici antichi era un uomo di grande importanza. La sua prima funzione consisteva nell'elogio del suo re. Inoltre intratteneva la corte, a volte nel panegirico, a volte nella satira. Insieme al druido, al guerriero ed al fabbro, rappresenta l'immagine dell'antico celta.
